Allstate Insurance Company
Glenn Shapiro is chief claims officer for the Allstate Insurance Company and a member of the Allstate Personal Lines senior leadership team. He is responsible for the largest employee group at Allstate, overseeing 16,000+ employees countrywide who handle more than 7 million claims annually.
Prior to joining Allstate in 2016, Shapiro was executive vice president and chief claims officer for Liberty Mutual Commercial Insurance. He originally joined Liberty Mutual in 2010 as chief claims officer of Safeco Insurance, a Liberty Mutual company.
Shapiro has over 26 years leading claim groups in the insurance industry, He has held a number of key leadership positions in strategy and operations. He also has led several transformations and been at the forefront of bringing predictive modeling and analytics to claims.
Shapiro received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Bryant University and holds CPCU, CLU and ChFC designations.

Jeff Mills is the EVP and Chief Claims Officer at American National Property and Casualty Group, headquartered in Springfield, MO.
Jeff has 25 years of claims handling, supervision and management at various companies, including Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance, Jewelers Mutual and Westfield Insurance Group Current responsibilities include working with the claims operations for ANPAC in Springfield, Missouri and Farm Family Insurance Companies in Albany, NY.

Senior Vice President and Chief Claims Officer
Allan Robinson is Horace Mann’s Senior Vice President of Claims. He has more than 30 years of industry experience.
Before joining Horace Mann in September 2015, Allan was head of personal and commercial lines claims at Hanover. Prior to that, he spent 27 years at Allstate holding a variety of claims roles – from front-line claims adjuster to senior executive positions.
Allan holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of William & Mary and has earned his CPCU designation. He’s an avid runner and has completed the Boston Marathon.

Bryan Falchuk is Head of Claims for Hiscox USA, the global specialist insurer’s US division. In this role, Bryan oversees an industry-leading claims team and is responsible for the management and operational performance of claims across a portfolio of specialized insurance products.
During his 20-year career in the insurance industry, Bryan has held leadership roles in corporate strategy, operations and distribution at Liberty Mutual, Beazley and Coverys. He has also served as a management consultant to the insurance industry while at McKinsey & Company.

Jeanette Ward joined Texas Mutual in 1993 after earning her BA from the University of Texas at Austin. She served many roles, including Operations Analyst to the Chief Operating Officer; Senior Manager of Corporate Planning, Budget and Accounting; Vice President of Claim and Information Services and currently as Senior Vice President of Policyholder Services. She directed system implementations for the company's certified workers' compensation health care network and the legacy claims system transformation to Guidewire. Ms. Ward is now responsible for statewide claim operations, network and medical operations, safety services, marketing, customer engagement, and product development for the company.

Ivania Palacios Konieczka joined Liberty Mutual Insurance in 2011. She currently is the Vice President in US Consumer Markets Claims organization, managing the Auto Physical Damage Product and Analytics team. Her team is responsible for creating and sustaining the competitive advantage in the marketplace for the Auto Physical Damage Claims line. Prior to Liberty Mutual, Ivania held various roles in Financial Planning and Analysis at Discover Financial Services in Riverwoods, IL., and IT Risk Management consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Miami, FL.

Amica Mutual Insurance
Larry has worked at Amica Mutual Insurance Company for over 28 years, beginning in CIS as a programmer trainee in 1989 before transferring to the Claims Executive Department in 1995. Larry authored the recommendation for Amica to issue its first adjuster laptops, digital cameras and cell phones, and now oversees the architecture for Amica's entire mobile claims workforce, including equipment review, evaluation and implementation. Larry served as Program Manager for Amica's Electronic Claims File initiative, overseeing projects involving 16 different integrations, and currently holds PMP and CIOP insurance designations. In his current role as Claims Innovation Manager, Larry continues to be involved with all things mobile, while overseeing and managing claims efforts to review and incorporate new technologies, workflows and tools to constantly improve the customer and employee experience.

National Claims Leader
With 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, Rob has held a variety of executive and organizational change leadership roles throughout his 21 year career at Westfield. In his current role as National Claims Leader, Rob and his team are responsible for the strategic and operational results of the overall claims department. Prior to his current role, Rob held the role of National Claims Strategy Leader and was responsible for the development and execution of Westfield’s successful multi-year claims transformation initiatives focused on organizational customer, analytical, and data advancements; and involving substantial organizational, process and technology changes throughout Westfield’s claims department.
Rob received his B.S.B.A. from Geneva College and MBA from Ashland University. Rob was inducted into Delta Mu Delta at Ashland. He currently holds multiple insurance designations, including CPCU, SCLA and AIC. He also holds certification as a Hammer Process Master and is certified in Prosci Change Management. Rob is current President of the Central Claims Executive Association and past officer of CPCU’s local chapter. He continues to participate in various insurance innovation and chief claims officer events.
Rob has presented at industry forums including Guidewire Connections; Annual Claims Event (ACE); ACE Tech Conference; IBM’s CounterFraud conference; various Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) and Litigation Management Institute (LMI) events. Rob has been published in several business and industry publications.

For the past two years, Jason Collins has been the Global Claims Business Architect at Zurich Insurance Ltd and is responsible for Zurich’s capital expenditures for Global Claims. He also controls the Enterprise Architecture for Global Claims to ensure proper governance while improving operations and technology for Zurich’s people, processes, and IT systems.
Prior to joining Zurich, Jason was with AIG for 12 years holding various positions within the Domestic Brokerage Group and spent four years in Asia Pacific (APAC) as head of APAC Claims Operations & Systems.

Kit Kiefer is a veteran insurance marketer and communications professional who is currently directs social media, research, and marketing product development at Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection. As a consultant, Kit has worked with the National Football League, the Major League Baseball Players' Association, and Goldman Sachs. He has set up competitive-intelligence programs for three unique market verticals, and pioneered the use of predictive modeling in dental insurance at Delta Dental of Wisconsin. As a writer, Kit has written a dozen books, served as a travel writer for The New York Times - and edited the world's largest Pokémon magazine! Kit has a master's in communication from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Amy Smith Parker is Vice President of Americas Treaty Claims at SCOR Reinsurance and is based in SCOR's Chicago office. She is part of the senior management team responsible for the claims operations for the Americas, including claims strategy, local operations and technical guidance of the claims staff in SCOR's North American offices in Chicago, New York and Toronto.
Before joining SCOR in January of 2017, Amy spent over ten years at Swiss Re in a variety of claims roles including Vice President and Global Client Service and Delivery. And prior to that, Amy was employed by General Electric Insurance (ERC). She began her career as an attorney, defending a variety of multi-million dollar exposure products liability, premises liability and insurance coverage cases on behalf of various insurance companies and utility concerns. Amy has expertise in a variety of lines of business, but in particular asbestos, silica, pollution, construction defect, mass torts and other liability matters.
Amy graduated from William Jewell College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature, earned her juris doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law. She also earned a Master's Degree in English Literature from Cambridge University and a Masters of Business Administration from Washington University's Olin Business School.

Brian Passell brings a unique perspective to the conference. He worked for 26 years with Progressive Insurance Company, the last 10 as the Claims President during a time of extraordinarily growth. Prior to his career in claims since 2006, Cochran was a CPA and business consultant for two international consulting firms specializing in management, disputes and turnaround consulting and also owned and operated a Permian Basin-based oil and gas exploration and production company. Greg Johnson joined the CCA Global Partners team in 2015 and serves in his role as the Senior Vice President of Strategic Partners Group. Over the course of his career, Mr. Johnson has enjoyed a variety of senior leadership roles at American Express, Ameriprise Financial and Crawford & Company that leveraged his expertise in strategy, sales, leadership development and business transformation. Jay Sarzen is a senior analyst with Aite Group’s P&C Insurance practice. He brings to Aite Group over 15 years of experience delivering strategic advice to a wide variety of clients, primarily in financial services.
Prior to joining Aite Group, Mr. Sarzen identified strategic growth opportunities for major insurance carriers, such as The Hartford and MassMutual, and for major financial services providers, such as State Street, through traditional strategic frameworks such as market analysis, competitive analysis, and value chain analysis. Prior to these roles, he honed his strategy skill set as a management consultant in BearingPoint’s Strategy, Process, & Transformation practice and served clients in industries that include software, chemicals, retail, consumer packaged goods, and financial services.
Since coming to Aite Group, Mr. Sarzen has focused his efforts on understanding innovation along the P&C insurance value chain by examining topics such as how new entrants are disrupting traditional distribution channels and how technology is altering operations such as underwriting and claims. Mr. Sarzen has been quoted extensively in industry publications such as IA Magazine, Insurance Journal, Insurance Networking News, and S&P Global Markets publications. Additionally, Mr. Sarzen has presented at numerous industry conferences and symposiums, including Dig In: The Digital Future of Insurance.
Mr. Sarzen holds a B.A. in Political Science from Trinity College, where he graduated with honors, and an M.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, with a dual concentration in Strategy and Management. He is a Six Sigma Green Belt, an avid squash player, and serves as an elected official on his town’s Board of Education.

Samiron directs the AI & Professional Services Lab at Comet Labs, a venture fund in San Francisco focused on AI and Robotics. The Professional Services Lab is an investment and support program for startups automating knowledge work in professions such as insurance, law, and accounting. He has an eclectic background as a venture capital investor, start-up mentor, and lawyer. Samiron holds a JD from Harvard Law School.

Marty Ellingsworth is known for his exceptional experience as a senior executive in the insurance industry and especially for innovative analytics. He is a creator of centers of excellence for innovation and data analytics and is credited with many new products and services in the market today. It is an overlooked secret that he is a “claims guy in an underwriter's clothing”, since he started his P&C career in claims data mining, working with WCRI and Allianz, before going on to found the first VC backed text analytics for claims software as a service company way back in 2004.
More recently, he served as head of risk and insurance at Experian, and prior to that as president of Insurance Services Office (now Verisk) Innovative Analytics, where he lead the creation of a modernized risk assessment product, Risk Analyzer and participated in many cutting edge claims analytics developments for casualty claims estimation, collusion fraud network detection, and innovations for skip tracing and entity resolution among hundreds of millions of reported claims incidents. Currently he is an entrepreneur accelerating development of industry leading predictive analytics and data-driven solutions, including advisory roles at several startups - cyber, drones, video analytics for drivers, recorded statements and transcriptions, data quality, and usage based insurance programs.
